From our opening in 2013, the Station North Tool Library has been a many-hands project. A majority of our funding still comes from individuals who become members, take classes, and donate.

This project exists because of -- and thanks to -- our community.

We now have four times the members we did ten years ago, with more joining every day. Our shared library includes more than 3,200 tools for people to borrow. In just the last year, we saved members more than $1 million compared with the cost of buying everything they borrowed. And between last year and this year, the number of scholarship requests we received has nearly doubled.

It's clear: sharing is on the rise. The Tool Library is a vital part of our City.

And to keep growing, keep adapting, and keep everything affordable, we need your help. Our annual fundraiser is a crucial piece of this magic. Rather than relying on unpredictable, restrictive grants or a few wealthy donors, SNTL puts together hundreds of small donations every year to meet our community’s needs.

In 2025, together we will:

  • Improve the borrowing experience through storage efficiency and faster repairs

  • Add more high-demand tools to our inventory such as hammer drills, shop vacs, and battery-powered nailers, as well as new batteries and chargers (which can be more expensive than the tool itself!)

  • Grow our Make Space program for gender equity in learning, skill-sharing, and making (you helped us get it off the ground last year!)

  • Host two public Fix-It Fairs for free repairs of household items

  • Distribute $500 per month in scholarships for classes

  • Keep our educational programming affordable while sustaining an increase in teacher pay

As a small nonprofit, your money goes a long way.
