Volunteer Librarians/shop Monitors
Volunteer Librarians
Volunteer librarians do not need to have experience with tools or construction, but should be passionate about our mission and values. Volunteer librarians interact with members at the front desk, helping with tool check outs, renewals, class registration and membership questions. We strive to create an inclusive space that is welcoming to people of all backgrounds and skill levels.
Wood Shop Monitors
Wood Shop Monitors are responsible for members using our public wood shop. They should have hands-on experience with all of our equipment, which includes the planer, jointer, table saw, router table, etc. Many of our Open Shop users are new to woodworking, and monitors should create a welcoming and inclusive environment while making sure everyone is safe and supported.
Craft Classroom Monitors
Craft Classroom Monitors are responsible for members using our craft classroom. The ideal Craft Classroom Monitor would be a crafty person with experience using sewing machines, sergers, and other craft or fiber art equipment.
Requirements
Prospective volunteers ideally should be members for at least 3 months for applying, though people who have been involved with our community in other ways are welcome to reach out.
Both librarians and shop monitors are required to complete at least three to four 3-hour shifts a month.
Volunteer librarians and shop monitors are expected to attend bi-monthly volunteer meetings, which are usually in the evening.
