SHOP SAFETY I

SHOP SAFETY I

Required prior to taking ALL classes and using Open Shop hours - regardless of previous experience, the class gives an overview of the Public Workshop and the basic stationary machines. Learn to safely work in a community shop environment! 

Class Time – 2.5 hours  |  Cost – $25

SHOP SAFETY II

Required if you have shop experience and would like to get certified to use the jointer, planer, and table saw during Open Shop. This class covers tool setup, adjustment, proper material processing, and best practices. Limited hands-on practice a great refresher!  Novices please take Wood I and you will get signed off to use the same machines.

Prerequisite - Safety | Class Time – 2 hours  |  Cost – $75

WOODWORKING I & II

WOODWORKING I & II

Woodworking I - Turn rough sawn lumber into useable boards. Learn about choosing and locally sourcing wood, and how each machine preps the wood for your projects. 

Woodworking II - Join wood using lamination, miters, dados, rabbets, pocket screws, biscuits, splines, and dowels. Learn everything from the basics to more complex jigs and joinery.  

Prerequisite - Safety |  Class Time – 4 hours  |  Cost – $105

ROUTERS

ROUTERS

From basic joinery to decorative edges, learn about edge trimming, grooves and slots, and stop cuts for framing, molding, joining, and attractive bevels. The router table is a versatile tool, but sometimes the handheld router is the best tool for the job. We'll discuss which router to choose, how to set it up, and how to use or make jigs and guides.

Prerequisite - Safety | Class Time – 3 hours  |  Cost – $75
